I am in the process of reassembling the cylinder
head on a 56 FMD and noticed that one of the injector tips is damaged. Not sure if it was damaged by me when I removed the head of by its original owner. Are there injector tips for other
Ford tractors that would work or will I have to find one specifically for a FMD?? Thanks, Robert

Robert

You should remove the injectors BEFORE removing the head. You cannot fit the tips yourself as they require setting up on a test stand. Take them all to a diesel fuel injectoion specialist for testing and new tips if required. Tips are readily obtainable.

Refit the injectors after the head is installed but before the rocker gear is fitted.

Good luck

Steven

Steven, yeah several have suggested basically the same thing. Being that this is my first diesel experience, I will graciously take the advice. Thanks again, Robert

It's costing me $45 each to have my FMD injectors rebuilt...not too bad considering what a lot of parts/service cost for tractors.
