Somehow I ended up with 4 Fordsons. The 1961 runs great. The 1958 has a good block, blown head gasket, warped head.I took the head off of the 1959 Roadless, because the block was stuck and will use it on the 1958 until the other head is fixed and checked for cracks(I set the rockers with the 59 pushrods and rocker arms). The injection pump shaft is in bad shape. The timing is off after I did temporary repairs to the shaft and checked it.There is only a white paint spot with a black dot on the flywheel, which represents tdc, unlike the later tractors.Do I set it to that or make a 19 btdc mark and use that?

I looked through the archives and no one mentions the early new major without timings marks. Anyway, I counted teeth on the 1961 and the two 1959's. The 1961 timing looks to be at 15 BTDC and the 1959's are about 19 BTDC. Someone mentioned 23 for the a 1952? I thought I would try eight teeth from TDC, which is close to 20 and go from there.Any input would help, thanks.

Thank you. I do need a book of some sort. I have been using this site for my references. Someone said 19 at some point. Should I change the 61? It really runs good the way it is now. The other pecular thing is the 1958 does not have any marks on the flywheel except a painted white spot and a black dot in the middle of it. I took the head off to make sure as the tractor wouldn't stay running a all.It represents TDC for #1.I count 8 teeth back from TDC for 20 degrees,on the 2 59's and the 61. Thank you in advance.
