The fordson coil box I have has a semicircle on the front of the box as well as the Fordson name and needs a wood back.
Can you tell me where I can get the mounting bracket to the motor and what year this box is?

what you have is refered to as the "rainbow box" refering to the rainbow like crease on the front of the box. this box should have 4 tabs on the back to mount it to the engine: two on the top that head bolts go thru and two on the side that two studs go thru.

sounds like someone cut off the mounting tabs. the rainbow and later boxes had mounting tabs that were formed from the box, it was all one unit, two tabs protruding from the top and two from the side. now i have seen several model t coil boxes that were fastened to fordsons. these had four carriage head bolt holes, two on each side to bolt it to the fire wall. you might have a "t" box in your possesion. each way sounds like you need a new box. get some fordson books and study the pictures, to get a box hit the swap meets this spring or try e-bay
