I have a Fordson Major Diesel but are not sure where to find the serial number plates. Can any one shed any light on where to find them? Also, can anyone tell me how to time the fuel pump to the engine? Any help much appreciated.

Yeah, I have one of those too. And the darn thing just keeps giving me fits. I have found that adding a little of my Wild Turkey 101 to the fuel mix takes care of the problem.

the serial #s are on the right side of the block just below the head. next, on the clutch bell housing there is a snall steel cap about an inch in diameter loosen the bolt to access the port hole, with a large screw driver turn the motor by the flywheel until you fing the timing degree marks check with your manual it should be 19 degrees. Last, loosen the fuel pump timing cou[ler bolts and set both marks aligned (you do have a timing mark metal tang up there don't you?) Get this right or you will blow head gasket immediately!!!!!

I also own a 1954 diesel major ' I have rebuilt the engine only to find that when it came to time the injector pump there is no timing marks on the flywheel nor is there a steel cap on the bell housing apparently there is supposed to be a timing marks that is bolted to the block near the main engine pulley mine is missing is there a way to time the pump without this mark.
