I have a fordson dexta Non Live Drive and when the tractor gets warm i cant change gear, this can get very awkward when i drive up to something and can`t reverse away until the tractor has cooled down. The gear lever either won`t shift into neutral or if in neutral wont shift into gear without grinding the gears. I have taken up the clutch freeplay adjuster fully so that the clutch should disengage without any problem but this has made no effect at all. Any help woild be appreciated thanks.

I wonder if you might be having trouble with a seized pilot bearing or bushing (I'm not sure which a Dexta has) that binds up when warm. I had a pilot bearing go in my Super Major, the bearing came apart and the balls jammed up inside the races, it was like I didn't have a clutch at all, just direct drive. I any case, it sounds to me like you're going to have to split the tractor and check out the clutch system.

I have 2 dextas both from 1958 , 1 with live pto and 1 without, the one with live pto is in running order and shifts very well , the other 1 is still a wreck . I never heard of a Dexta that wouldnot shift when it is hot I can only advise you to check the lining on your clutch I suspect it to stick to the flywheel.
