Is anyone familiar with replacing the clutch seal in a 1960 Power Major Diesel? This is the seal that is around the shaft that connects the clutch linkage to the transmission clutch shaft. I haven't had much luck finding a shop manual for this tractor that shows and explains replacing this item. Also, would the seal be readily available at a Ford implement dealer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Glen Peterson

I have a 64 super major with the same problem. Let me know if you find a simple fix. I think it's a (split the tractor) deal. Does yours have a grease fitting at the clutch shaft? Maybe BURRHEAD knows what it takes. How about it BURRHEAD?

CLARIFICATION -

The problem leakage is coming from under the foot stand where the clutch linkage attaches to the lower part of the transmission. This shaft looks stationary so someone please tell me its not the gasket that splits the tractor.

You only need to take the wheel off to pull the shaft off. The same shaft carrys both brake and clutch pedals .If you are talking about the gearbox /pto input shaft you will need to split the tractor (easy)
