Seeking more information on the Major I am looking at buying.

On the left side just below the starter lever is a long lever going down to what looks like a ram on the bottom of the transmission. What is this for?

The brakes aren't working too well, is there a handbrake anywhere (or an anchor)?

Thanks,
Graeme

The only handbrake is the lever that locks the brake pedals down. There could be some oil in the break shoes causing them to slip. Or you will need to repair the brakes.

I believe the lever is the start/stop for the PTO drive.
