Dexta steering

I am starting to restore 61 dexta
I want to start with the play in the steering
wheel. can anybody give any detailed info on this
problem

Lloyd - I did some work on a Dexta a while back and I seem to remember that in addition to the shims Burrhead mentions, I think the bearings in the steering column can be adjusted with shims to reduce some of the freeplay there as well.

Lloyd you can take the left side of the steering box off and remove a shim or 2 to take slack out of the steering gearbox.

Just remember when you take the gearbox apart those are not gaskets under the side plate, that is the shims that adjust the box.

If the rocker shaft knobs are worn down you can weld and grind them back down to get the right fit into the steering colum shaft.
