I have a 1957 Fordson Major Diesel that I would like to restore but parts are hard to find. I'm missing the clutch. Its a double but I've heard that a clutch from a 57 Ford truck will fit. I would rather have the right one. It's in decent shape and the motor turns over. I also need other parts.

I have a whole parts tractor believe it to be a 1961 fsm that the clutch is shot or froze;it has very little sheet metal ;it is a diesel engine if anyone needs a parts tractor this would be a very good start as the man I purchased it from said clutch problems and the fact that it didn't have power steering they would use the other one with ps I am located in S.C. It must be because yo guys are in the States. Over here in the UK, i can get every single part for a major, any year, Brand new or used.BUT some of the new parts are really expensive ad this doesnt help restorers on a tight budget. You wanna check out some UK shops like Mid Norfolk Tractors, Tractor Parts online on the internet, also dunlophydraulics sell fordson major parts really cheap from ireland.
As regards your clutch, can you not find someone whos breaking a major and get it off them cheap? You can buy the clutch new if you wanna spend lots of money.
