My dad has a 1954 Fordson Major Diesel. He is thinking about selling it and was wondering what it is worth. It has 3pt. and live power takeoff. it is pretty strait unit.

Can't be a 1954 if it has live PTO. This wasn't introduced til 1957

Another factor, it's helpful to mention what region of the country/world you're in as the value often has regional variations. The serial number and/or an accurate year tag (can be determined from a sidebar link on this page) helps people. Further, if someone on this list sees it's in their area they will possibly either be interested or know someone. These ideas are not just directed at you Chris, very often the same question is posted by others often giving no more details. It's tough to be helpful that way. Generally speaking the price ranges VERY widely on most all models. I've heard of them in good condition for next to nothing and others needing needing lots of work selling for 10 times their worth. It comes right down to the fact that there is no iron clad "blue book" true value except that which a single buyer and a single seller come to agree on. Sorry I didn't answer your question but maybe you can repost the needed info. Serial # should be either on right side above injector pump by #1 cylinder or on earlier models near the starter motor. Good luck, Bill S.

Thanks for the input Bill. I guess I should have checked out the s# first, sorry about the confusion. You are correct Majorman it is not a 1954. It is a 1960 Fordson Power Major. I live in Lewistown, MT. When I get the chance I will take pictures of it and send to those interested in helping. Thanks Chris

Sounds interesting,Chris. At this time of year it might be a bit too far for me, given the possible road conditions. I'd like to see some pictures though. I live in the Okanagan valley in B.C.
