Slowly getting there with whats turned out to be a major engine overhaul (for me) on 56 FMD. Thanks to Steven B and Bill Hires for Torque settings, liner puller design and parts suppliers.

Last lap. I was very carefull to mark pistons conrods and bearing caps as they came out.
Now I am ready to re assemble I find that Its possible they had been incorrectly refitted in the past.

The conecting rods and big end bearing caps are stamped numbered 1-4 on both should they match. They did not when they came out.

The connecting rods have two faces one with the word "DIESEL" cast in the other side with the part number. Which should face the front of the block.

The rods and caps should be numbered the same, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4. These numbers should be in line and face the camshaft side of the engine when installed. The bearing notches should touch each other when installed correctly.
