If this tank is between the dash and the back of the engine block, it is the "Air Washer" air filter. It has 2" dia. drain and fill plugs on the left side of the tractor when sitting in the driver's seat. This must be filled to the top plug with water. There is a tin float inside that must be off of the bottom of the tank before the engine will run.

Attached to this air washer on the right side of the tractor is the gasoline starting tank referred to in the other post. I have a '23 model and it has lettering cast on it that says "GASOLINE - FOR STARTING ONLY." This tractor was designed to run on kerosene or similar distillate type fuels. The engine would not start on these less volatile fuels and had to be started on gasoline. After the engine was running at operating temperature a valve was switched to burn the more economical (cheaper) fuel. If you have other questions or this isn't clear, let me know here or via E-Mail.

Mark:

The 'extra' tank you are referring to may well be the cast iron gasoline starting tank on the lower rear right hand corner of the ditillate tank. If your 19 is complete, and correct; with six spoke rear wheels, ladder side radiator, correct manifold etc it could certainly have an enhanced value over another Model F, but it will most likely have it's greatest value to the family and descendents of the original owner. Are you familiar with the FFCA (Ford Fordson Collectors Assn)?
