I have a super six with a serial number on the axle housing that has a production date of nov21,1969. I don't know if it is the casing or tractor production date. S 717452 on the engineblock -with casting # T1 683F-d-6015BA.
Problem is that Ford-Holland and other parts sources can't identify the engine and model year to order parts for it. There is no service or operators manual available for it. The parts manual doesn't give engine info. Help!! An industrial engine supplier suggests that the casing number is a 362cid but has no idea of production date except that it is before 1980. I'm trying to find out about parts availablity for rebuilding it as well as maintaining it. The dealers don't even have engine info for valve settings, torque specs, etc.

So far I've found out that I have a 5.9L 362cid ford dorset engine 2713e. Does anyone know if the dorset 362,363, and 380 are the same block? I've noted some internal differences.

Years back Northeast Ford in Gloucester, Ma. sold "tons" of these Dorset engines for lobsterboats. Lehman and Barr sold conversion parts and complete engines. Northeast Ford is still in Gloucester but I think the had a name change to something like New England Industrial Engine or such. They would be my first source attempt for Dorset engine parts. I have a Dorset 4 cyl. in a 1969 Ford stepvan that had been a Nissan bread truck in MA and ME.

Just add thet this engine has few parts that interchange with the Fordson. This engine was developed for the UK "D" Series trucks after 1965. It was also used in New Holland headers and there is a marine version.

Do you have any idea of how long they produced these engines? Was it only until 1980 or was the same block used into the mid 90's?

These engines had dry sleeves up until about 1972 then they went to parent bore (no sleeves). The engine carried on into the early 1990's and was used in the Cargo range of trucks untill Ford sold of it's truck line to IVECO. IVECO continued the use for about 2 years as per New Holland Ford.

I have specs at home but I dont have casting numbers and your engine number is for a Industrial engine.

If your in the US I belive there is a place in Glouster Mass that deals in the Marine version (same engine). Its also known as the "Dover" engine. That engine is still common in England, Australia and many other countries, and all parts are still made for them.

Thanks for the followup. I received a full gasket set and a book on the dorset 245,362,363, and 380 diesel engine. These were available through an industrial engine supplier. The gasket set looks to be correct. The engines are simular with some internal differences. It mentions marine applications as well as a turbo charged unit. The distributor could't tell me whether the blocks were the same. I'll do a search and try to find this marine application.
Thanks,

Ron,
the super 6/1124 made 112hp. stands for 112hp4wd. County used the 2714E Ford UK industrial 6 cyl 363ci diesel. the bits County didn't change were standard fordson.
there are some manuals available for it.
hope this helps. Manuel

Does anyone know if the 1124 is meant for forestry or the same as the county skid model?
