Fordson Dexta info ?

I have found a Dexta for sale. Before I go and look at it I was wondering if they have a live PTO or live hydraulics ? Is this simply a 8N with a diesel engine? if not what else is different? thanks for the help.

I have had a dexta for about 20 years. I got mine from my Father in law. I paid about $1500 for half interest at that time and later replaced the roof on my mother in laws house for the other half interest. I have used the tractor for plowing and pulling trees as well as keeping the road in shape. It has never let me down. Mine does have live power take off and hydralics. I am in the process of doing my major service for the first time sense 1983. My hydralics seem to be getting tired and I found the sump screen to be cloged. I am sure that when I reassemble the tractor it will be ready for many more years of use.

Good tractor - very little available from NH. You'd be better off with a 801-4000 diesel Ford.

Erik,
The live PTO and live hydraulics were both options on the Dexta, you almost have to look at each tractor to know what you have. My Dexta has neither live PTO or Hydraulics.

Its kinda' like a NAA without live PTO or Hydraulics.

yes they do have live pto and hydraulics,also 6speeds,perkins diesel.they are closer to a massey35,than a 8n.around here they sell for around cdn$3500 in good shape.I have one,nice little tractor.
