I am trying to locate a power steering cylinder for this tractor, I have not had good luck trying to find one. The tractor has the pump but is missing the cylinder. I would like to find one in any condition. I was told that a David Brown 1200 tractor used the same cylinder. Can anyone verify this?, and direct me to the where abouts of a cylinder, so far the national parts locating service has not came up with anything. I am also in need of the guage cluster assembly for the oil, temperature, and fuel.

Most any powerassist cylinder would work with some modification. If you are not wanting the original. You might check you nearest truck salvage yard for one out of an old truck. Or consider buying a new unit that fit the Long tractors and make it fit yours. Not to long ago TISCO ran a special on such a unit. I can't remember who made the it. It was probably a cessna or mico brand. The Zetor dealers had access to a add on kit for their 3520 Models.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. My cylinder was in awful condition and I spent $400 getting it rebuilt.

I sold that tractor, but I have a 1961 supermajor with a similar cylinder on it. That tractor is down with a cracked engine block. If I decide to part it out, maybe we could do business. I should know by the end of October.

Not many majors had PS unless they had loaders on them. I don't know how the steering box could cope with the weight of this tractor without PS. Both of the Super Majors I've had had bad steering boxes and that was with PS.

I too have a Super Major that could use a new cylinder. I tried to rebuild it but the leak has come back. It is qute worn in some areas. I wish any old cylinder would work but they won'tdue to the ball studs being internally a part of the cylinder. I am not a guru by any means, but I think you have to have the original part and not just some other older cylinder. I leave myself open for correction. I love my 5000/Super Major and would like to keep it but if it becomes to great a hassle to repair then I will probably sell it. Would like to hear some feedback. Thanks. Lawson
