FMD tire sizes

I have a '56 FMD. All tires are shot, the tube is now sticking out of the rear tires in quite a few spots, amazing I haven't had flats yet. What are the correct/best tire sizes? The front currently has bald 15" car tires, and I don't recognize the manual nomenclature for the recommended size. I want to put standard 3-rib tractor front tires on. The rear currently has 13-6 or 13-8, I am at work and don't recall exactly. Is this the best/right rear tires? Thanks again in advance. I hope to sandblast and paint rims at the same time.

Bruce

My research reveals that the front tires on the FMD that were imported to the USA were three rib 7.5 x 16. The UK model had 6.5 x 16.
Standard on the rears was 14 x 30, which are no longer available. Have to go to a 16.9 x 30.
I had the same problem as you and this was the solution to my '53 FMD.

Thanks for the reply. Interesting that your rear tires are smaller diameter than mine. Mine is a '56 and the rears are 38 (13.6-38 is what is currently on it). The fronts are the same though. Wondering if your rims are from an industrial or something, or did someone modify mine? My tires do look tall, almost out of place from some aspects, although the fenders fit the tires.

Thanks again.

Bruce, my owners manual states the the field tractor had 11 x 36 rear tires and the industrial version had 9 x 36 tires. However, I seem to have read some place the U.S. models had 14 x 30. I think I reas this in the Nebraska Test summary. I've talked to some other FMD owners and found out they have a combination of 30's and 36's. So seems like it could be a lot of combinations.

My '64 5000 Super Major has 7.50x16 fronts and 16.9x 30 rears. Mine is a standard farm tractor. I also know that you could get 38's but don't know about 36's
