I am helping a great friend get a tractor running for a threshing festival this comming weekend. We split the tractor and cleaned the clutch and may other little things. This tractor has sat for atleast 10 years and started on first attempt BUT...the float is cork and doesn't float. Looks like it was sealed with shliak (spelling)and that has all turned to gunk. I am wondering is there a way to build a new float or somewhere I could get something quickly. We have a fordson 2 bottom plow to pull and use this weekend and need this tractor running. Might be the oldest ford there working. Thanks in advance.

Corey

Corey, is the float you are looking for the square one for the Kingston Vaporizer with the upflow tube or the Round one for the Kingston downdraft carburator? I too am looking but one is easier than the other. If he still is into it, the Fordson House had the rectangular one. -Dave

it is the round float. a cork ring. There is other problems with the carb now also we didn't realize. Some of the metal is being on the govener control.

Corey I have been in the same sittuation I have a 1929 fordson but it has an older holley vaperizer on it. I used one side of a brass float out of a allis chalmers carb they have two small round floats in them I just used a pencil torch and solderd it to the arm of the old float I ajusted it in a bowl of water.I also put my needle in the drill press and used a file to make the taper like new again. If I was close anuff I would run right over and help. Let me know how it comes out. I have worked untill late night the day before a show and it is usualy well worth it. Good luck John..

Thanks john.

Right now I am trying to recreate the cork float and then with fine wire hold the pieces together. Not sure how simmilar a Kingston and a Holly carb are to one and other but I will take a look at the float in our Allis B. Every night I will be working on this..and if needed the morning before the show. It is quite fun. Thanks again.

Corey
