OK folks here is another one. What is the normal engine operating temperature for the 3 cyl. perkins at 95 to 100 degrees f. ambient temp. My gauge has been replaced and I don't what would be "red line". Last year ran between 195 & 200 but this summer had a little episode of 100 plus degees outside temp and the old girl got up to 210 degrees f. We both took a little rest and shade. Information will be most welcome.
Thanks for all the past help. Ed R

Hey Ed R if I was you I wouldn't take any chances with my engine. I would take the radiator out of the tractor and have it's flow tested. That is to say how fast the water runs out after it has been filled. If it is to slow then it needs flushed. It's not much of a job and shouldn't cost much, and also if you have this done be sure to have it pressure checked to make sure it doesn't leak. I did this to mine and I had a small leak. Also check and see if your water pump is working up to par. Take care

We ran these in the 1960's and 70's and on a hot summers day they ran with the gauge 1/4 inch into the red. They ran till retirement 2 years ago so it did'nt do any harm

Dexta engines can take a little heat; they don't overheat that fast.

I'd say anywhere between 85 and 105 degrees Celsius is fine.
