Changing Hydraulics oil in a Dexta

I have purchased a Dexta with a front loader. The rams on the loader had defective seals which had allowed water into the oil.

I have now bought new rams (seals not available) and wish to change the hydraulic oil to prevent future problems. The problem is that the manuals that I have obtained do not seem to cover such an elementary operation and I am now slightly perplexed.

Would somebody please let me know the location of the rear transmission drain plug, level plug and filler plug.

I presume that the correct oil is SAE 20/30 as mentioned in a reply to somebody else.

Regards

The drain plug is located on the underside of the rear axle. Take care: there's over 20 liters of oil in there! You're gonna need a pretty big bucket ;-).

The level plug is a small, rectangular bolt on the left side (seen from behind the tractor) of the rear-axle (halfway up the clutch pedal arm). If you remove it and oil runs out, the level's OK.

The filler plug is on top of the rear axle, a large one slightly to the right. Can't miss it.

Oscar,

Thank you very much. This is precisely what I needed.

By the way, I tried the link to your web pages but I received a "The page cannot be displayed" message. Is there a problem with the link?

Oscar,

I checked for the plugs today and found the filler plug and the level plug exactly where you said.

However, I am still a little perplexed about the drain plug. All I can find under the rear axle are four large(ish) bolt heads that look as if they are (or should be) securing something. The only plug that looks like a drain plug is under the gearbox just behind the bell housing flange. I presume this is for the gear box.

Would you please describe the location of the rear axle drain plug more precisely. It obviously must be there somewhere and I am getting a little frustrated at not being able to find something that should be obvious.

Thanks for your help.

The bolts you mention are used to attach a swinging drawbar or other equipment. The drain plug should be where I said it should be, unless someone removed it (in which case there is no oil left in your rear axle). It's a big plug in a big hole, so get on your back and lie under the tractor to find out (put some sturdy wood underneath the axle and the clutch housing before you crawl under it; you never know).

My site's operating normally but the server is located in Europe. Hit the refresh button a couple of times and you should be fine.

Thanks. I've found it now. The plate holding the swinging drawbar had a gap at the front which had filled up with greasy dirt and looked like a smooth surface. I dug out this gunge and found the plug.

I think it may be a while since this oil has been changed :-(

Thanks again for your help.
