County, Roadless, Bray & others were converting Fordsons and other brands for years. Even before the 1960's.
Some were making half & full crawlers also.

I have a Fordson Super Major 4wd, 1964, I think. It has disc brakes, so it's a later model. It has a 4 cylinder diesel 220, and 2 drive shafts, one on each side, which doesn't let the big front wheels turn very sharp. We don't think it's a County Four. We did manage to get a parts list and manual, but would like to know how many were made, etc.

Four equal sized Wheels? Twin prop shafts to the front? Thats a County. Sounds like a Super Four if Fordson Major.
County were the only manufacturer to drive from either side. The drive comes from the bull pinion shafts on which the brakes are mounted.

Yes, all four wheels are the same size. Wasn't the County Four a later model(about 1969), and the Super Four from around 1963 to 1967? Information is hard to find. We haven't seen any 4wd Fordsons at local tractor shows. We think this one was used to skid logs. Hay would probably wind around the drive shafts, and turning radius would be measured in acres, not feet!

Super4 was from the 1962 era to 1964 then with the 6X series it became 754. Will post some pics later.

Thanks. This model had a 5000 decal on it (sale in the US). The serial number on the engine (which the former owner said was original) is S708353. The books have some numbers on the sixes, but not the fours.

Roadless used a dropbox between the gearbox & final drive with a single propshaft to the front axle. County have twin propshafts from the final drive & only started using a single prop on the Ford 4000/four of the side of the gearbox instead ot the Roadless system of a unit between the gearbox/finaldrive
