Hi, my name is Randy and I live in eastern Ontario. I recently acquired a great Fordson Major
tractor, about which I know very little. It is a 4 cyl, diesel and on the ID plate is stamped Motor #1422925, to date that is as much as I've learned. I would very much appreciate it if someone out there could tell me something based on this little bit of info, or at least point me in the right direction. To start, a model and year would be very helpful, then at least I could look for a manual.

Thanks in advance, Randy

Randy,
Your Major was built in March 1957. It will be one of the last few thousand with the early engine. The "Modified" one. A number of changes had been made to this engine in the period 1952 to 1956 so always take your engine number when ordering spares.

The Mark 2 engine was introduced in April 1957 from engine number 1425097. Your engine is 44hp at 1600 rpm.

The tractor was built in Dagenham, England.

regards

Brian

Randy,
By that no. it sounds like a 1957 model. They came out in 52 & the Power FM arrived in 59 so that makes yours a "New Fordson Major".
Manuals are avail for these.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Manuel
