Thanks for help with oil level. Was running OK. Now it won't start! Have cleaned mag (later addition)so spark OK. Cleaned carb,
Fixed hole in float, petrol can easily be blown through vaporiser with air line from carb but it will not suck mixture into manifold when cranked, even on full choke. No mixture is getting to cylinders. It will fire if petrol sprayed direct into manifold thro plug on front. There are no noticable air leaks and all passages are clear. What am I missing? My arm is nearly dropping off!
Cheers John, Yorkshire, England.

If you have a Holley 234 or 280 kerosene or TVO (as i believe the british call it) manifold there is a shunt or valve ( loacted in the mixer at the top of the manifold) that you turn down for kerosene or lift it up to draw gas from the starting tank. you might have the valve in the wrong position (will not draw fuel from the correct tank) or if the valve is wore out it will suck air and will not create enough vaccum to draw fuel from the mixer at the bottom of the manifold. Almost every one of these old Hollys i have worked on had a worn out shunt valve
