Looking for Advice

I am a Ford-N series guy but am looking for a challenge. I have the opportunity to purchase a Fordson F 1918 that is in need of help. Here is my dilema, The front of the tractor is a 1918 F (original gas tank, radiator, tool box with the small letters, etc.)the rear (back of the engine) is a 1923 (7 spoke wheels). Its going for about $2K. I have done some research and there are considerable differences. I do not see how I can be a "purist" without purchasing another one - if I can ever find one. My Questions: How hard are parts to find out there (do most have to be machined).
2. Am I a fool for considering this "hybrid", that is, should I wait for another to come along.

I was at a show recently when a man came to my tractor and told me he had one just like it. We got talking and he told me his had glass fibre wings, glass fibre bonnet, glass fibre front cowl, glass fibre fuel tank, gear box from a 1957, etc. etc. Yet because it had a 1952 engine the whole tractor (to him) was 1952.

When I need spares for my Major, I search the breakers for the part. Its part of the fun of owning an "oldy"
