Dexta front wheel headaches

English isn't my native language, so I might sound confusing here.

One day I decided the front wheel bearings of my Dexta needed to be checked and re-greased. I'd done the job before so I was confident I could do it.

I removed the wheel, cleaned and re-greased all the bearings and re-assembled. Prob is, now there's a gap of about 1 centimeter between the wheel and the end of the front axis. Can't get this gap to close and I can't remember it being there before either. The other wheel sits nice and snug, as it should be. I had no problems at all re-fitting the bearings and the wheel and getting the large bolt tight and secured with the split pen. There's no play in the wheel at all, it rotates freely and without too much friction or any noises and it doesn't run hot either, but it does lose quite a bit of grease and it just looks plain weird. I'm also a bit hesitant about taking her out on the road. Obviously the wheel cannot get loose but I'm worried about damaging the whole assembly.

Suggestions, anyone?

take it back apart and make sure you assembled it right.when the bearings are covered with grease it isn't hard to put one in backwards if you are not paying attention.be safe not sorry.:)

I tried to make a simple scetch of the situation, but I cannot tell for sure if it will be displayed correctly in the message. We'll see. The gap is where the letter "g" is located.
