Thank you Stephen for your reply but now I have a problem. I know all the controversy about the ford orange etc etc . but!! My tractor was a one owner from new and was absodefinlutely delivered with creamcolored wheels and radiator covers also on the radiator emblem there is remnants of dark blue paint on the left hand side of the hand holding the ear of wheat or whatever and also yellow on the right hand side of the ear itselfalso tracrs of red and white on the other bits nothing on the super major wording though. although the tractor has been under trees for the last twelve years the colors are definitely original and this has been attested to by the original owner. Help!!!

Nelson:

There are five colors on the FMD, and FPM cowl badges. The hand and right row of florets and leaf on the wheat is the same orange as the orange wheels. The left row of florets and leaf are a yellow/orange but lighter than the wheel color. The right half of the gear is white, and the left half of the gear is a dark blue (very close to the E27N blue) The background in the oval around the wheat sheaf and gear is Fordson blue... same as the sheet metal of the tractor.

I have just done some research for you. In Stuart Gibbards book, The Ford Tractor Story Part 1, it apears that New Performance (Grey Wheel) Super Majors had grey leters, grey background and the hand is blue.

I just watched the release advertisment for the original Super Major in colour on video. On orange wheel Supers, leters are black, background is orange hand is orange. In Stuarts book there is a early Super with a blue hand. On my tractor its definitly orange.

The Grey wheel Super was introduced in June 1963.

I forgot to mention, orange wheel Supers have a chrome side emblem "Fordson SUPER MAJOR" with orange leters. live PTO tractors have a orange triangle shaped decal. Grey wheel tractors have no side emblem, they have a decal "Fordson" at the rear of the hood.

My dad's 60 Power Major has cream colored front wheels, rear wheels and grille, I looked back in my "Ford Tractor Story" book that covers the Major quite well and I saw Power Majors painted orange.

Where is Don when you need him????? ?

Hi Adam.....

I'm here, just been living in the barn for the last 7 weeks. :-) I wish I was a 'crop farmer' and had all winter to tinker on my Fordsons!!! *wink*
