Is the tractor in the picture worth saving or too far gone? It was parked in 1945.

well, where do i begin...

the tractor pictured is a irish fordson model n built in cork ireland and imported to the usa. this tractor was built from 1929 to 1932 with a production run of about 28000 units making it more scarce than the abundant american fordson. the irish fordson fearured a high tension magneto and a governor, items that the american counterpart did not offer . is it worth saving, yes!!!, any irish is worth getting due to the low production number.
do you own the tractor or are you looking at it?
some things that i noticed were a missing air washer cover, rotted fuel tank (obvious), poor radiator core but the magneto is there, manifold appears to be complete and fenders look decent.

Thanks,

It's in my grandmothers backyard. Wheels are sunk in the ground about a foot.

Grandma has been in the same house for 77 years (she's 96). All the attachments are in the shed (plow, tiller, etc).

Bunch of spare belts, maybe the air washer, I'll have to check. Have to see if the engine turns over.

sounds crazy but i would almost rather buy a tractor that is stuck than loose, reason being i have seen engines so wore out that they would never seeze up( will cost more to repair). but i have knocked apary a few engines that were froze tight and all the parts were good, even the rings, moral of the story, dont let a stuck engine make you think twice.

just curious, did the tractor belong to your grandfather??

Yes it was my GGF and then GF.
I believe them to be the original owners, and my GM says they drove back 13 miles from the docks with the tractor.
GM even said something about the "Irish Tractor".
They had a farm (about 4 acres) and at one time, GM boasted they planted over 4000 tomato plants. Also, in the 20's had a vineyard. I still have the grape press. They were raided by prohibition agents and they confiscated over 40 barrels of wine, gin, and whiskey. I still have the original prohibition agents receipt and newspaper clippings. Lot of history with that tractor.

That tractor and all the attachments have a LOT of family and historic value as well as antique tractor value. By all means restore and keep it in the family! You will NEVER get a second chance if you part with it!
