FPM drawbar front mounting point.

Hi guys

I have a FPM without a draw bar and I have a complete drawbar from a scrapyard junker that I have refurbished and painted ready for attachment.
The snag is that the replacement forward mounting component has a centrally mounted spigot which is fair enough. However the attachment point on the tractor under the transmission appears to allso have a spigot (Admittedly of smaller diameter)

Q. Is there more than one type of attachment i.e. with or with out spigot or could the existing spigot under the tractor be a remanant left behind from the oridginal missing drawbar.
many thanks

Chris

Ploblem solved by taking the "bull by the horns".

As the spigot on the tractor seemed to be immovable I resorted to pressing out the spigot in the 4 hole mounting plate and low and behold it's small end matched the tractor spigot.

Plate and draw bar now attached, Yippeee!!

After further inspection I'm coming to the conclusion that the spigot/dowelpin that remains in the location where the original drawbar 4 bolted mounting plate should be located in the transmission housing is in fact a detached original pin that is possibly corroded in the hole and became loose from it's plate.
When it's out then we'll know, unless some body knows better.

I never leave home without the wrench needed to remove the gear box cover, because like you said it tends to get stuck at inconvenient times and in inconvenient gears (like reverse).

Burrhead gives good advice (like always).

According to the Workshop Manual, to remove the drawbar ...

1. Detach the two drawbar guide bracket pins and linch pins

2. Support the front of the drawbar, unscrew the four bolts retaining the front pin and housing. Lift the assembly away from the tractor.

So, I guess if the pin on the tractor is held in place by a housing with four bolts, then you have bought a drawbar AND pin, if you follow what I mean - although your reference to a different size is puzzling. The Manual makes no reference to a difference between FM, FSM and FPM models as far as the drawbar is concerned. Perhaps one of the more knowledgeable contributors to this page can help. It's too dark for me to see now, otherwise I'd have a look at one of mine. I'll check here tomorrow, if I get home in the light, and if there is no further help for you, I'll go and have a look.
