My brother in-law just bought a dexta the lift was not working. In removing the top I found that the pick-up tube and filter had fallen off! After putting it back in place and replacing the top the thing worked great'used it about 20 min. The next day started the tractor lift would not work! Could there have been some dirt in pick up tube that may have stopped up a valve? thanks in advance for any help.

Before you go to alot of trouble with valves. Take your auxillary outlet plug out and check to be sure the pump is supplying pressure to the system. Sometimes they will shear the pump drive key, or another problem could be that the filter has collapsed on the pick-up tube.

If you have oil flow at the aux tap then I would check the check valve first because it's easier and is bad to stick.

In the center front of the differential cover cover, right between your legs when seated and is recessed into the cover just above the differential housing facing forwards, almost dead center of the cover housing.

Take the plug out and you'll see a small pilot stub. Take needle nosed pliers and pull this stub out, it's the check valve.

You'll find a spring and ball behind the stub, take all this out and clean them good, also clean the seat and orifice good. I always use the spray brake cleaner.

If it was'nt the check valve, then next thing would be the safety valve.

Take the accessory plate/flow control off and you'll see a plug under the plate, take this plug out, it's the safety valve. Clean it and the orifice both real good with the brake cleaner.

If it was'nt one of these holler back, there's more to check under the cover, but usually it's the check valve and then next is the safety valve.

I would think it probly put trash up into one of these valves, that's what's most common.

Did you check the auxillary tap or the pump flange to be sure you have oil flow???

There are 3 more valves but the top has to be taken back off to check them.

2 are on the lift piston housing, and the other one is called the back pressure valve and is in the tube under the filter.

I've attached a pic of the hyd lift, pay close attention to

item 5A is the control valve
item 11 is the unloading valve
item 74 is the back pressure valve.

I would almost bet that the tube with the filter has fallen back out, or the back pressure valve is stuck open.

This tube should have and "O" ring at the top where it plugs in and a bolt into the differential housing to hold the tube in place. The holder bolt comes in from outside the housing to the bracket on the tube.

On your hand controls be sure the selector is pushed over to the fast position-(to the left).

Item 24A on the pic should be pulled up to the horizontal position too.

Item 47 should be pushed in all the way.

I can't think of anything else right now. If you need more pix or anything I can help with just holler.--Jerry

I have an English built Ford 3000. The oil tube hole sizes are different from a US manufactures 3000. I'm trying to put the 3pt. assy. from the US tractor to the English tractor. If I find a junked Dextra, would the oil tubes be likely to be what I need? Or, what Ford dealer might know about the parts I need. My local dealer can't be of help!
