Can anyone tell me the best way to clean the inside of a FMD fuel tank, I removed mine after finding it leaked like a sieve if I filled it over half way. After removing the fuel tap I have found that the bottom of the tank is coated in around 50 years of crap. Any Ideas?
Also, as I mentioned I need to repair some holes. Is brazing a suitable method of repairing these tanks. The main problem is an area on the front side of the tank, which has been in contact with the battery and is a bit corroded, It is leaking at the horizontal join in the tank.
Any suggestions kindly accepted.
Paul

Remove the tank and have a radiator shop dip the tank, or use a really hot steam pressure washer and flush the tank for 30 minutes.
As for the leak I have had good luck with fuel tank liners ( liquid that you pour in the tank, slosh around, drain the excess and allow to dry). I use only "RED KOTE" brand and have had no problems. Have had problems with other brands. Any comments anyone????
