No problem here Brian. I know I'm not wrong and I respect your opinions. It don't make a hill of beans either way as to which came 1st, the chicken or the egg. The way I see the deal tho, was when Ford and Ferguson split apart that Massey kept the Perkins as it's engine, and Ford fought to keep it for themselves. Ford pitched a fit because they wanted exclusive use, and Perkins would'nt go with that idea. Ford did'nt make or break Perkins. Perkins had been building engines since in the mid 30's, Ford was just another outlet for their product. Ford thought it could badger and force Perkins into getting in on the exclusive deal on a particular engine and it backfired on Ford. If you'll check it out today. Tafe, and IMT are doing the same thing that Ford did years ago. They pay patent and royalties to Perkins and on some engine styles have bought the patent rights and manufacture their own engine and parts in Romania, and Bulgaria. They also use outdated generic Bosch and Simms injector pumps on the same deal. These hostile take over deals are'nt anything new today, Ford was trying it at least 40 yrs ago. It just did'nt work.
