Bought a super dexta that had engine rebuilt wrong. When I got it a sleeve was broken inside it. I replaced the sleeve, now it runs for 7-8 minutes and seizes up. The temperature never goes over 165 The head was rebuilt and valves are adjusted correctly, the crank was turned and has sufficient endplay,I think the pistons and sleeves are seizing. What should it cost to have a machine shop fit sleeves and pistons and check the crank? Any other ideas? Thanks, Dennis

It sounds like somebody forgot to fit the sleeves to the block.

When you don't fit the sleeves right it does exactly like your talking about. If you want to locate the right cylinder before you take it apart. Loosen #1 injector fuel line so that cylinder won't fire, crank engine and see if it seizes. If not tighten line back down and move to #2, and then #3.

If the sleeve is fitted right you should be able to push the sleeve in with the heels of your hand to about 1" above the block deck. Take a wooden block and light tapping should seat the sleeve.

When I have the machine shop to put the sleeves in a block for me they charge $50 if I have the block stripped down and carry the naked block and new sleeves in for all 3 cylinders.
