how do you check oil level in major??? there is no dipstick that i can find????this is for the hyd and rearend oils.also what is a good grade to use. thanks

Go sit down in the tractor seat. Look to the left next to the gear shift. You should see a dipstick next to it. If not, look for a small hole (7/16") and that is where it should be. That is for the rear end. To the left again, there is an aluminum plug very close to the PTO shift lever. It takes a 7/8 wrench to take it loose, and you can visually check the gear oil. Full level for the plug is right at the top. This is how it is on my tractors, some of the guys in jolly old England might know of ones with a different setup. Mine are in the US.

thanks wally---still cannot find dipstick or hole.must be something different. found filler hole. i broke a valve plunger off trying to get it out ??that is the one with the 3/8th tapped hole thru it . it was stuck and broke in 1/2. would you happen to know were i could get one or is it possible to braze it????this is the valve directly under seat sitting on tractor.
