I'm fixin' to change motor oil and I see in the book there is a screen to clean. My question is (I'm concerned about the gasket) can I reuse it or what can I make a new one out of?Also thanks for the other info.I never did like to hear an engine rev too high.No wonder ya'll call them Beasts that's the pullin'est tractor I ever saw! They must be a breed apart the way they crank, pull, don't run hot--Yea, that reminds me my radiator shutters don't work, should I look into fixin' them or are they needed?I don't expect I'll run out of something to wright so I'll just quit punchin' buttons (for now)

Helton,
You may not have a screen to clean on your Major. The one mentioned in the book was deleted when they stopped building the petrol/paraffin tractors around 1956. You have a plate on the bottom of the sump if you have got one.
I use "Instant Gasket" when I need paper gaskets and find that pretty good.
regards
Brian

If you're really lucky, some gaskets just might be re-used. Don't be disappointed if they turn out to be leaky, though. Like I said, it takes a bit of luck. It helps to clean them thoroughly first, and also make sure to REALLY clean the metal surfaces where the gasket goes between. The smoother everything is, the better your chances. But if you wnt to do it right, there's only one way to go: get new gaskets and put 'em in there. They're not that expensive,
