I"m having an issue with the lift on my Fordson Dexta. The lift lever does not have a full range of motion. It will only move one-half inch or less, and the arms don"t stay up. I"ve pulled the lift cover, and worked on the linkage. Even with the cover off, I don"t have a full range of motion with the lift lever. I cannot see anything that is out of place or anything that could be wrong. If anyone has any suggestions, I"d love to hear them. Thank you for your assistance!

It sounds like you are experiencing the same problem I had last winter with my Dexta. I had to remove all the linkages. Remove the height adjustment handle and associated parts from the exterior, remove the interior linkages from the lift assembly and then soak the shaft while I had it secured in a vice. It tooks three days of soaking with a good penetrating fluid, moving it each evening, and then finally tapping it loose with a very small hammer. It moves like I would expect it too when new. If you have any more questions send another message and we can arrange to talk. Good Luck.

I had the same problem with my Dexta this past winter. The problem was corrosion. The oil used to run the hydraulics and lubricate the rear axle does not lubricate the interior linkage for the lift arm which are at the top of the unit. Mine was siezing on the shaft that it rotates about. After dissasembly I placed the linkage in a vice and soaked it for three days with a good penetrating oil. It works very smoothly now. You have to remove the entire top assembly to access the linkage. I tried soaking everything externally with penetrating fluid with no luck. I don't believe that the seals had ever been replaced before and they were allowing a little moisture to enter the inner workings. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, place a post and you'll find the experts on this site are more than willing to help. Good luck.

When you had the lift cover off, when you replaced it, Did you put the draft control lever down, so it was pointed down, or was it facing forward? Let me know, and I will try my best to assist you.
Bruce.

Even with the lift cover off, I could not move the lift lever more than about a half of an inch. When I had the lift cover off, I tried to adjust the lever all the way forward; however, it wouldn"t move. When looking at the motion inside the lift cover, when I move the lift lever, the linkage moves, but it has a very limited range of motion. I originally thought that the spring was too loose so, I soaked the plunger with penetrating oil until I could adjust the spring tension; however, It didn"t change anything. Thank you for any help you can give me.
