I need to replace the front engine seal on my '61
Dexta. I have pulled of the front end without any problems.. Now the manual says remove start jaw and crankcase pulley. I havent a clue how to remove these parts. Anybody had any experience with this?

Thanks

John

John,
Start Jaw is the big nut in the centre of the crankshaft pulley. Jam the engine and unscrew. You can tap it with a soft drift to start it and there may be a tab washer to release.
To draw the pulley you may have to make or borrow puller. You could also CAREFULLY tap the pulley off useing a soft drift on the pulley hub. NOT the flange and turning the engine to stike in a different place after a couple of strikes.
Be careful. Remember a hammer can be a divining device to find expensive or hard to find parts:)
regards
Brian
