Aux. Hydraulics on Dexta

Need a little advise on remote hydraulics on a Dexta. My Dexta does not have the accessory DAR valve. All Dextas have an auxiliary hydraulic output plug on top of the gearbox just under the seat. If I understand this correctly, the lever can be pulled out to divert hydraulic fluid to remote use, rather than to the 3-point lift. I want to put a log splitter on this tractor, which has a hydraulic control valve on it. This seems to be possible, but where do you connect the return hose?

Chris,

benny2 is right: the hydraulics are slow, very slow for a woodsplitter.

Since our woodsplitter was 3-point hitch, I borrowed the hydraulic pump off our post pounder and was able to use it at an idle.
If using the Dexta hydraulics, the return can be dumped back into the rear end oil filler hole.

Threads are NPT and a "T" will allow you to still use the filler cap.

Cheers,

Les

Get an engine with pump for the log splitter, The Dexta and most other small tractors of this sort DO NOT have enough flow to correctly run the cyl on a log splitter. I tried and it is a waste of time and tractor engine! Now a good rebuild on a Dexta engine can cost an easy $1500. a new pump $400, an engine and pump can be had New for $400 for the log splitter that will run it right! Your Choice! I have 2 Dexta's my log splitter has an engine.
