For the life of me I don't know how to tell what model diesel 3 cylinder I have. in order to make any repairs on the engine that is important. I have a number off the block behind the injection pump C0280098F. Can anyone help? The model is a 957E7005

Dextas had a Perkins F-3 engine which was made by Perkins, but assembled by Fordson. They were similar to the A-3, but not all parts were interchangable. The Dextas had a 144 cu. in. engine and the Super Dextas were 152. I wrote this from memory, I don't have any books in front of me, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. When you're ordering parts for your tractor, just tell them its a Dexta Diesel, don't confuse them with any of these details.

You could always call a kid I had try to start helping me some this year. He didn't come but two days and that was enough. Real smart kid, he said he could rebuild a motor in about an hour, putting those round things in there(pistons I would guess????). His alias is Jimmy Newtron, he don't live up too the name. There are no Newtrons moving about at all.

There is little doubt it is a Fordson Dexta Diesel and from the accounts of your runaway problem it has the early Simms Dexta injector pump with the vacum govener.

Sorry! I thought it had a number or some kind of model. I didn't know they only made one kind of engine for the Dexta. Thanks Walt Allen

Only if Re: Its A Re: How do I know what engine model is in in reply to Walter Allen, 07-27-2007 06:43:30
Only if some one had installed some other maker. Or a later model Super Dexta, Or it was a gas engine which then would be a Standard Engines (maker) Or a fitted a Perkins A-3 which RARELY happens due to the fact the Dexta engine is a good engine and relativity easy to get parts for. You can get most parts from the company that provides this forum. Even Case New Holland can supply most parts.
