I'm rebuilding the hydraulic system on my Dexta. Hopefully starting to reassembe it tomorrow. I've had to reman the linkages and draft control shaft as they were very worn. My question is that one control arm(#957E-680) has a dowel pin that rides a cam on the rocker arm. It has 2 flats on it. One where it rides on the cam and another that I believe might be for clearance. I'm trying to find out if the pin has worn from riding on the rocker arm cam or if it was ground this way at the factory. Another question is where the lift arm setting gauge(N-503)actually holds the arm in relation to the gasket surface. I've got a full service shop and would rather make the right gauges than do the fudges that are in my manual. Oh, is there any way to check the shape of the draft control link(957E-540)without comparing it to a new one as outlined in my manual?
Thanks, Ron

I believe the dowel pin should be round. Mine was sheared off, replaced it with a simple round pin and it works fine now. Got the pin at my local 'big box' hardware...a harder pin might be better though...too soft, it wears, too hard it might shear....I've never seen a spec on the original one. A dab of grease on it when re-assembling might be a good idea. And go easy if you drive out the old one, don't want to risk breaking the arm.

Here is a link to a drawing of the tool used to hold the arms in place Link
Scroll>Link down the page a bit to find it. According to another page (16) on that site, it holds the the arm in position where the center of the hole in the lift arm is 1/2 inch above the gasket surface.

I've never stumbled across a drawing of the draft control link.....my take on it when i went through mine was: it isn't binding or rubbing on anything, and I was able to get the adjustments right..so it must be ok :)

Regards
