Anybody got any advice on the best way to remove the engine on a FSM with the 712/723 loader backhoe subframe? It looks like an awful job at best.

Hi Julian in SC,
It is prbably not as bad as you think. (but maybe it is too). I am in the middle of the same thing for a 61 major. I only have a front loader on mine and was dreading the thought of all that would be involved. In the end I was able to split the tractor with only a few hours into it. I left the sides and frame for the loader still connected to the rear axle and she came apart pretty easy. Send some pictures and maybe someone can have a suggestion. I also have a 57 with a loader that I am in the middle of removing as well. It would already be off, but because of the design, I will need to lift it above the exhaust, It is taking a little while.

Hey guys would post as many pics as you can and let us know where you got parts and what kind of problems you run into. I have a 61 Power Major w/Wainroy quick detach backhoe, I can have it off in about ten minutes and it will pickup a Mack truck (exagerating). but I have to use brake cleaner to get it started, I don't like ether because you can hear it hammering the crank and rods. I plan on doing my engine over and would apprieciate all the help I can get.
Thanks: Jim K
