I have a Fordson F tractor with a Serial #729332, which seems to make this tractor a 1927. The tractor also has the bowed or radius style front axle, which is like my 1929 Irish. Did the model F's have this axle also at the end of the production run? This serial number is only 10,000 from the first Irish. thanks.

Nick, I have never seen a Fordson F that came with the Irish style axle. The Irish front cover is designed to accept this axle although it will fit in an F. I had a parts tractor #743005 which I parted out. It is the latest F that I've ever seen. (The Welker boys in PA have the engine). It had the F axle. I did have an F once with an Irish axle in it. It was intentional tho as it was put in upside down to get more clearance in the front. You never know what you'll see in a Fordson!

Thanks Butch. It appears I have hybrid. I picked up this tractor last year, but never noticed the axle until now. It also has the heavy cast front wheels and spade lugs on the rears. I'll call it an FN.

Sounds interesting, does your tractor have a Cork built backend? Is it possible that you could have a Cork tractor with a Detroit engine?Lots of things can happen over 80 years.
