I'm now getting around to changing the fuel filter on the Dexta Diesel. My qestion is that the cannister has two washers and a spring in it with the filter. Do the washers and spring go on top of the filter or at the bottom below the filter. They were on top when I removed them. the parts book does not show. thanks

The spring should go in so that it applies pressure against the filter forcing it on to the base. Your washers are there to keep the filtered oil from bleeding back behind the unfiltered oil and visa versa. Heres hoping this helps. David

I hope some one can answer your question. I've got a FMD which i've owned for years. I change the oils and all filters when I got it and didn't remember how the washers were. Now evertime I change oil filter I put them on different. Doesn't leak, but there has to be a proper way. I'll watch this post.
