My Dexta required ether to start. Ether baby. Once started, power was ok for a while. This went on, then it took a propane torch in the intake to start.

When I tore it down, the compression rings fell out like shelled corn. The ether explosion on cool rings break them, and break them till you have starting issues. Or fried starter.

Once new liners and pistons/rings, bump she starts. Below freezing, bump and it starts.

I'd have rebuilt mine sooner, but I worked it every day for a while. I sure was glad when i finished the overhaul. WOW!.

If it won't start without ether you have serious engine problems and are looking at a reasonably expensive engine overhaul.
