What kind of a Fordson is it anyway?!

I've got a Fordson (deisel) with a front loader and roadless unit that was the original equipment. I suspect it is a 58' or 59'. I thought the website had solved my problem in the research/serial# lookup but to my dismay I couldn't find it! Hopefully someone out there can help and feel free to pass this on to any "experts". I am looking for the specific make, model, and year. The serial number is:
1463525

Thank you,

Randy

Hey Randy;

Thank you very much for the reply.

At the present moment the tractor that has the roadless conversion on it is sitting on my dads farm in the caribbean. Picked it up from another farm in Feb when I was down. I will be taking it apart and shipping the fourwheel drive kit up to Canada when I go back down in August. So at the present moment I am just looking for contacts, so that once i get it up and know exactly what I need I can then source parts from such contacts. So if you could give me a web address or email for the place you and your friend are going to would be great.

My Fordson is a 1963 Super major with a front blade/bucket, I use it for clearing snow in my driveway. It works great, picked it up late last year and just absolutely love it. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Kenneth

Ken, Sorry I've been busy at work. I'm excited for you. I just got my tractor and you can see what is from the previous posts. I'm here in the Seattle, WA area. Of course if your in the area look me up.

My tractor has the original front loader that works well and an 8' blade that connects to the 3 point. I'm planning on working it hard on my property getting ready to build a home. After that, I'm going to take my time and restore it. Runs good, has lots of leaks. Very straight though. Everyone has a different opinion but I think it's beautiful.

I've read all the posts on color. Right now it's all orange. Wondering if this is the primer, or if it's supposed to be blue with orange wheels, or as my ford friend said. "May have been an industrial version and therefore was originally all yellow"?

The colour should be blue and orange like the colours of my Major in an earlier post. Yellow did not come in until much later although some companies had tractors painted in their company colours when new.

Ken,

You will need to find out the axle ratio of your tractor to ensure the axle is interchangeable. 1963 tractors had two different ratios, 4.4 and 3.5 to 1.

The number is stamped on a triangular area between the gearstick and the lift at the front of the lift. You will need it to be 3.5 to be interchangeable with an earlier tractor or you might stretch her a bit :0).

Possibly not on one as early as you have but it would be nice from your point of view!

Hey Randy:

I just acquired a roadless kit for my Super major, I need to rebuild the front Differential, any leads as to where you source parts for the roadless kit would be greatly appreciated.

Kenneth

Ken, a friend of mine and I are going to a place in the portland oregon area that I have heard should have roadless unit parts. I'll be down there on Thursday. Maybe you can give me specifics and I'll print them off and take a look for you.

Also tell me more about your Major!

P.S. Much thanks to Majorman.

You have a Fordson Major Diesel, February 1958, with a Roadless conversion. Roadless started making these units in 1956 or they were available for converting existing tractors.

Thank you Majorman. Much appreciated. The orginal Roadless Unit is not on it right now but it does come with it. The left short shaft in the unit is broken so I will need to find a replacement and then reinstall the unit.

Is my tractor supposed to have power steering?
