Don't paint the Fordson!

We have a '24 Fordson F that is in exceptional shape. We know it's local history since new. It has never been restored or altered in any way except possibly a newer radiator core many years ago. It's sheet metal and tool box fenders are in good shape with only 80 years of minor bumps and dings. The only thing is, it doesn't have a speck of paint! Not exactly rusty, just mellow, bare steel and cast. When we started researching what color it should be painted, many people said "leave it alone!" Our intention was to put it back just like it was when new, including color. But now, we are wondering if painting would detract from it's originality rather than improve it's correctness. Whatda ya think??

I vote paint it! I'm almost finished repainting a 54 Fordson Major and after all the degreasing and sandblasting, the new paint is just delicious and tractor looks like the day it was made. Yea, it'll take you some time and elbow grease, but you'll have a true classic when you are done and it will always be a joy to look at.
