I have had a Fordson Power Major for 10 years and had excellent service from it. Just recently it has developed a very smoky exhaust, black smoke on accelleration and white smoke on decelleration. I can start it when it is cold and if I dont touch the throttle it doesn't smoke, but once I move the throttle either way it smokes profusely.
I have replaced the injectors with reconditioned ones, I guess its something in the fuel pump. Any suggestions would be most welcome

If all other things sugested have been checked & are ok. Check the lines to the vacume govenor to the intake manifold for holes worn in them, or loose conections. Also the diaphram in the govonor. any air leaks in the lines or diaphram will cause the problem you describe

Try cleaning your air cleaner. Take the hose off the manifold and see if the smoke clears.

Light work may also give similar symptoms but I would go for the air cleaner before I touched pump or timing.

The Ford manual also states that lack of compression from faulty rings or valves will also give your exact symptoms.

First, check your injection pump drive coupling, and pump timing.
