I had the same experiance on my 64. Only the left side seemed to grab. I loosened everything up and took it out and drove for a while. It heated up enough to melt my shoe. Then I let her cool, and ever since It has been fine. Never opened it back up since the first time.

You probably set it too tight.

Did you reset by slackening the adjuster lock nut, tightening the screw until the brake locked then back 1.5 turns?

Or did you adjust using the pull rod nut in the linkage? This is only to set a pedal clearance of 1.5" and is not the brake adjuster.

Every thing has been dismantled and both oil seals replaced on the pinion shafts so the adjuster and pull rods have been removed or slackened. With the brake housing sitting on the bench and the discs and actuating plates laid inside they are approximately 1.5 mm beyond the housing. I have solved problem by hand cutting a 3 mm gasket for the face plate which I’ll remove as the disc wear.
Thanks for the help.
TC.

I don't like the sound of a gasket between the brake housing and face plate. In event of the brakes overheating this could break down and leave the face plate loose causing all the bolts to shear and you with no brakes. As I replied above, did you set the screw adjuster underneath fully back before installing the discs. This can cause the problem you have with the liners. Also, wrong liners could be the cause. I have had to sand down liners to get them to fit before now.
