Old Fordson restoration, would I be Crazy?

There has been an old Fordson - Pre 1938 I guess, siting as a "sign" in front of a now defunct construction company for years, just about a mile from my house. I am thinking about asking the owner if he is interested in selling it. From what little I have gather from this web site, I guess it is a US F model. It is mostly there, from a brief gander the obviouis problems are

A 3 inch hole front top of motor - water pump and fan missing I assume;

Gas tank rotted to heck - difficult to find I gather (can they be made?);

missing whatever it is that you rest your left foot on; peg or brake or clutch pedal??

My father, brother and I are into Ford tractors that we have restored (9n, 8n, two NAAs, 841, and a Sears & Roebuck Model A converstion to tractor. My overall question is, are parts for these machines much harder to find than the more modern Fords? It would be a neat project, but I don't want to take on a nearly impossible task.

Honestly, would I be crazy to attempth this? Do those of you with the old Fordsons consider yourselves crazy?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well, i hate to throw water on yer thoughts, but i think we dropped most of those old cast iron Fordsons on Germany during WW II! I haven't seen any around my area for a long time. Try this: Burgh Implement Store 1-800-369-6213 or:junkman@zbzoom.net This place has many old tractors that they sell parts from, and may have a Fordson. I get no compensation from them for any business i send their way. Try contacting them--might help! they are north of Zelienople, Pa, which is some 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, Pa. Rustyj
