I'm looking for the air washer plugs, both top and bottom for a 1927 Model F. Anyone out there have any?

Mark --

The air washer plugs are the same part number as the transmission fill plug and the large oil drain plug on the underside of your tractor (just off the top of my head I think the Fordson part number is S-254); if you have access to Fordson F carcasses you can cannibalize a couple, or, failing that, you can order them from The Fordson House in Escanaba, Michigan (http://www.thefordsonhouse.com) or Lang's Old Car Parts (http://www.modeltford.com) in Massachusetts. Lang's deals mostly in automobile parts, but they have a few tractor parts, and the plugs you need are among them. Part number at Lang's is F1884, and the last catalog I have from Lang's lists the caps at $25.50 each. Seems a bit spendy to me, but like a lot of things you'll see when dealing with restorations, the prevailing attitude is, "If you want it bad enough, you'll dig deep and pay up." -- Maine Fordson

Air Washer Plugs, Round 2 in reply to Maine Fordson, 09-15-2005 14:22:44
I just checked The Fordson House website, and they list the air washer drain plug at $40 (part no. S-705). Interestingly enough, they list the crankcase drain plug at $17.50 (part no. S-254, which fits the same as the air washer plugs, like I mentioned in my first posting). Looks like that"s where I"d go -- $35 for two is a lot better than $25.50 for one!

Also, they list the various gaskets for the plugs, bowl top, etc. for fairly reasonable prices (if you"re not a make-it-yourself kind of guy -- I buy gasket material and felt by the sheet at the parts store and keep it on hand for just such an occasion).

Good luck with yoour project!
