You appear to have some info on the 'R' Serial Numbers can you identify this one. My Power Major E1A has no visible Serial Number. However it does have the following nos:-
Engine E1ADDN -6050-G stamped underneath - 13167
Engine Block machined face:- R 61272 Simms Fuel Pump SPE 4A 75S 527 stamp marked underneath - 293848
The remaining Stamp marks refer to F20C - F28C.
Have you any idea what Year / Month and Serial number please.

John: I'm using Stuart Gibbard's book, part one.
He specifically lists replacement engines for the N and E27N. Nothing about the New Major replacements. One thing, the New Major continued the same sequence of numbers. Until 1380939, the number was stamped on the flywheel housing. After that it was stamped on the block. That would have been in 1956. Your number "13167" is too short, but if there were two more digits after it, it would be a 1954 number. If so, it should be stamped on the bell housing.
I actually don't know anything about replacement engines for the New Major.
