Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 1950 E27N, serial no being 1178389. This number was stamped on the engine side where the engine and gearbox meets. On the transmission side right opposite the serial no is the following no, SR43. What does this number mean??
Many thanks

Lourens, these letters and numbers designate which ratio geaerbox is fitted to the tractor. SR43 is Special Red Spot with low speed top gear.
SR75 is Special Red Spot with High speed top gear.
STD43 is standard Green Spot with low top gear
STD75 is standard green Spot with high speed top gear.
With special Red Spot transmissions 1st, 2nd & reverse are lower ratios than with the standard green spot version.
The 43 or 75 designate the 3rd gear ratio.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks Brenton. I had a suspicion it was a low range gearbox because it is very slow.
Lourens.
